You always think that the snorkel is for going through deep water. But Australians don't have that much water at all. First born in the early 1980s out of a need to develop something to protect 4WD engines from dust, the most common source of engine failure, the Safari Snorkel was born.

But beyond that, the Safari Snorkel is also a closed system and completely waterproof. The original Land Rover snorkel, for example, is not.

Thus, the Safari Snorkel offers the ultimate protection from dusty desert drives and deep water crossings.

Another advantage is that the air intake can be rotated. Thus, in heavy snowfall, the air intake can be turned backwards to prevent possible blockage by snow. Rainwater that is sucked in is separated by the specially shaped air intake and drained off through openings. In addition, this reduces driving noise during long motorway journeys. Whereas the Safari Snorkel hardly produces any wind noise anyway.

Further advantages

    The complete Safari Snorkel system increases the amount of air sucked in considerably, as the hose from the snorkel foot to the Discovery's air filter also offers much more passage. This is most advantageous in combination with a permanent sports air filter from K&N.
    Unfortunately, we cannot give any exact values here. But the K&N sports air filter alone provides 40% more air flow. In combination with the Safari Snorkel, this is certainly even more.
    The air filter does not have to be replaced or cleaned so often in dusty areas.
    In addition, the sound of the air intake grows to a pleasant and powerful, but not obtrusive rumble.

Of course, this original Snorkel from SAFARI is approved for the Land Rover Discovery 3 & 4! However, it must be approved by the TÜV and entered in the vehicle documents. We will be happy to send you a PDF of the certificate.
