AGR decommissioning kit Discovery 3

The failure of an EGR valve on the Land Rover Discovery 3 usually results in a significant lack of power at speeds below 2,000 rpm. If an automatic vehicle runs at unusually high rpm, this may be an indication of an EGR failure. Heavy soot emissions are also an indication of a defective EGR valve.

In Land Rover Discovery 3 and Range Rover Sport up to and including model year 2006, it is possible to shut down the exhaust gas recirculation valves, also known as EGR valves, without any problems. Vehicles up to model year 2006 are easily identified by their chassis number. This ends with a number less than 6A999999. The eighth digit from the back stands for the model year. These vehicles are classified as Euro 3.

Due to stricter exhaust emission regulations, vehicles from model year 2007 onwards also check the functionality of the EGR valves and detect malfunction or shutdown, generate a corresponding error entry in the control unit and switch on the engine indicator lamp. For these vehicles, there is not yet a proper solution for decommissioning the EGR valves.

As in many Discovery 3 vehicles, one or both EGR valves will fail sooner or later, it is advisable to carry a decommissioning kit with you, especially on long-distance journeys. Should an EGR valve fail, you can either install the kit yourself or have it installed by a workshop and continue your journey without the hassle of time delays, procurement and costs. After returning home you can have the EGR valves replaced if necessary without any time pressure. This will work for all models, even for new ones! If possible, however, the error memory should be deleted. This can be done, for example, with diagnostic devices from GAP IID-Tool.

The kit is supplied with detailed and illustrated instructions in English so that a workshop abroad should also be able to install the kit.

Please note: If the exhaust gas recirculation is shut down, the Euro 3 classification is no longer fulfilled.
