Alu-Cab 270° Shadow Awning left

The Alu-Cab Shadow Awning, which provides 270° of shade, is stronger, lighter and easier to handle than any other awning on the market. It is designed to be quickly extended, easy to use and quickly rolled up again.

When extended, the awning covers an area of 10 m². It covers a large part of the side and rear of the vehicle and protects against sun and rain.

To open the 270° awning, simply unzip the transport cover, pull the awning around the vehicle, secure it with the bracket provided and you're done. To give the awning a little more tension and to allow rain to run off more easily, an additional, centre pole is folded up and you can sit down and enjoy the shade.

There is an additional pole to anchor the awning to the ground, but this is only needed in really strong winds. Winds like those that occur at the Cape in South Africa. Then this ground rod provides additional stability. The Alu-Cab Shadow-Awn 270° awning stands perfectly even without this support leg. It floats without needing any further fastenings.

Straps are threaded into each of the three folding arms, which can also be used as additional reinforcement. Pegs are stored in their own bag, which is attached to the transport bag. The three arms of the awning can be braced in case of really strong gusts.

To re-fold the 270° Shadow-Awn awning, simply release the retaining strap, retract the awning, roll up the fabric and store it in the transport bag. The Shadow-Awn awning fits snugly into the transport bag, which can be easily closed with a zip and the journey can continue.

The awning cloth

The fabric for the awning comes from Europe. A 270 GSM (grams per square metre) aluminised Tencate® fabric is used to make the awning. This material is tear-resistant yet lightweight, easy to pull out and stretch, and provides ample shade and protection. The aluminised coating reflects the sun, so temperatures are about 5°C lower under the Alu-Cab awning than under awnings with conventional materials.
The folding arms

The Alu-Cab Shadow-Awn awning has three folding arms made of 1.6 mm thick rectangular aluminium profile. The fact that the folding arms are made of rectangular profile gives them extra stability without adding weight.
The hinge

The hinge to which the folding arms are attached is made of 5 mm thick stainless steel hinges with nylon bearings.

The awning is also available for the right. However, if the spare wheel is mounted on the rear of the Discovery 3/4, it will be on the right, so the awning only makes sense on the left!
